If you are a fisherman then I don't have to tell you how great the sport is. If you are a serious fisherman then you well know that when you're not fishing you're thinking about fishing, and when you are fishing your thinking about the next time you're going to go fishing. People who have the fishing bug think about it all the time. Now imagine being absolutely hooked on fishing but because of a disability you simply cannot get out and participate. Frustrating would be a complete understatement. I know this from personal experience. Thankfully I do have people who will go fishing with me, however, we have to arrange our trips, I can't simply decide to go fishing whenever I want, I've got to go when it's convenient for my helpers. That suits me, I know that people can't just drop everything when I want to go fishing. But there are people out there who don't have anyone to go with them, I really feel for these people, it must be horrible when you really want to do something but it's simply impossible because you don't have anyone to help.

I would like to bring together like-minded anglers in the South Devon area and offer help to disabled anglers who for some reason cannot go fishing on their own. I would like to make it quite clear that this would be on a voluntary basis. I think it's important that the disabled people who want to go fishing don't feel obliged that they have to pay the person who is helping them. Anyway, I would like to think that both parties would be able to fish, the helpers just there to help the disabled person tackle up, baits up land fish. After all, it's more fun to go fishing with a buddy than going all on your own.

If you think this is a good idea and you are in a position to help then please drop me an email. This isn't something that is going to take off quickly, I think it's going to be something that's going to need to be planned properly. Obviously, I am disabled so I can't offer to help people. But my role will be creating a website for this new venture so that we can reach out properly to people. However, I will be looking for experienced anglers who hopefully will take an important role in this new idea.

Please drop me an email if you think you can help in any way.

I'm not going to put my email in this blog post because I will just get spammed. However, if you click on this link you can send a message via my website message system.

I live on the south-west coast of England in a small town called Brixham.  I been confined to a wheelchair 1986 after breaking my neck in a swimming pool accident.  Computers are my saviour and I spend most days doing one thing or another on my PC.  Other interests I have include angling and amateur radio.  I also run a website and forum dedicated to looking after and caring for the Oscar fish cichlid
