Just when I thought EastEnders were improving their storylines they do a storyline which involves a double-decker bus mowing several of the residents down in Albert Square.

I have been a Corrie fan for the best part of 25 years now and I've always thought the storylines have been well thought out, realistic, and most importantly enjoyable. However, after watching the episode on Thursday 28 May which saw the a massive fire break out in the apartment block where Carla and Nick live, I'm afraid I am extremely disappointed with how the whole storyline developed during the programme.

To cut a long story short, Tracy Barlow thought she was going to be the new barmaid of the Rovers due to her devious plotting with Tony to buy the Rovers, notwithstanding that she had also been having an affair with him. She then finds out that Carla at the very last minute has offered to buy Liz's share, thus scuppering any hope of her getting her feet under the bar at the Rovers. So Tracey being Tracey is out for revenge. She steals the keys to Carla's flat, lets herself in when everybody is asleep, including her own daughter whom unknown to Tracey is asleep in Carla's bedroom. Her intentions soon become clear, she intends to wallop Carla over the head, however she changes her mind at the last minute. She then lights a candle so she can look at a photo album containing photos of Rob. She then puts the candle down but neglects to extinguish the flame out. So the inevitable happens, the candle starts a fire.

Eastenders never ceases to amaze me with their ridiculous, totally unbelievable and farcical storylines. Just recently we've seen a young baby taken away from her mother for no apparent reason than having a mild case of nappy rash. After spending some time in foster care, this young vulnerable baby was placed in the greasy hands of a violent, alcoholic drug taking ageing thug, i.e. Phil Mitchell. Yeah right, this would really happen in real life.

I've just watched tonight's episode where we saw Dorothy Branning up before the magistrates were the Council were trying to evict her from her home. Now please correct me if I'm wrong but people wanting to sit in the public gallery do not walk directly into the court itself. However, we saw Fat Boy and Poppy walking straight into the main area of the court without any intervention. They then proceeded to go and sit in the public gallery. And if that was silly enough, the magistrate allowed Fat Boy who was sitting in the public gallery to suddenly become a witness for the defence. I know that most programs use a little bit of poetic licence to dramatise the storylines, however Eastenders somehow make a habit of taking it just a little bit too far.
