I live on the south-west coast of England in a small town called Brixham. I been confined to a wheelchair 1986 after breaking my neck in a swimming pool accident. Computers are my saviour and I spend most days doing one thing or another on my PC. Other interests I have include angling and amateur radio. I also run a website and forum dedicated to looking after and caring for the Oscar fish cichlid
Somebody who I met recently online has a really interesting website I would like to share with you. His website is dedicated to live web cams that are situated on both cruise liner ships, and the ports that these ships dock at.
So if you are thinking about booking a cruise then have a browse around Jeff's website and get a feel of what you could expect.
I recently upgraded Dragon NaturallySpeaking to version 13 and am certainly not disappointed, the accuracy is absolutely superb. However, there was one niggling problem I have been having when trying to dictate into Facebook. Basically, it's very intermittent and sometimes it happens, other times I can dictate perfectly okay into Facebook. What happens is when I try and write a message I just get this message coming up saying that I have to input some text. I am not even able to post anything, not even a type by hand. So that's one problem, the other problem I get more than often as if I want to leave a comment. I can write the message okay, but it when it comes to publishing it which you do by pressing enter, all that happens is it sends my cursor down to the next line. This is quite an irritating problem to have features when you want to leave a comment on Facebook you can't, unless you type it all out by hand. Sometimes if I switch off Dragon NaturallySpeaking everything will be okay, sometimes it still doesn't work.
So that's it, if anyone has any help they can offer and I would appreciate it. You can leave a message at the bottom of this post and I will receive it.
I only go fishing in the summer when it's warm, therefore I am often out in the midday sun. They say that you only have to get yourself some burden wants to put yourself at risk from developing skin cancer. They say that skin cancer is on the rise because people neglect to protect themselves from the ultraviolet rays. To be honest with you, I probably left it a bit late now, I've been sunburnt on so many occasions I've lost count. However, I try now to slap on the sun cream every time I go out in the sun. They have been advertising a new product that looks really good. With normal suntan cream, you will have to reapply after a few hours, this new one only needs to be put on once a day. So I've bought myself some Riemann P20 Once a Day Suntan Cream which I now put on before I go fishing. I can then enjoy myself for how many hours I am out there in the sun knowing that I am fully protected and I haven't got to think about putting some more suntan cream on. If like me you are fair-haired then it's even more important that you use suncream.
A friend of mine brought me to the attention of this new quad copter that is basically a flying camera that is completely controlled by a kind of GPS device that you attach to your wrist. So if you want some awesome aerial video footage of yourself skiing down the piste then this clever little camera will actually follow you. It is absolutely incredible, the amount of things you could use it for is endless. I quite fancy getting one to take fishing with me, you could have it hovering 20 feet above you filming you whilst you catch fish. If you are a mountain biker, you could get it to follow you down a mountain, or if you are a kayaker, you can get it to follow you down the river, apparently it is even waterproof. This is something I really fancy getting when it's released in 2016. I suspect it will be quite expensive, but the fun you could you could have makes it worth every penny.
I recently bought a new
for my Mercedes sprinter. It's all singing and dancing, I can stream live music, take calls through the radio, it really is the bees knees. So I bought a couple of weeks ago and needed somebody to fit it. Liquid Ice who have a shop on Torquay Road in Paignton recommended a chap called Karl Hutchinson who just happens to be the son of the owner of Liquid Ice. Karl came to my house yesterday evening and fitted to stereo to my van within an hour. He has done an absolutely fantastic professional job and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Karl Hutchinson is a professional audio fitter. He is a fully insured mobile fitting service, in other words he will come to your house. He also carries out other services such as boot install specialist, fibreglass fabrication, hands-free kits and reverse sensors.
If you are a website owner then you should know by now that Google will punish you if your website if your website is not responsive. By this I mean your website must be able to adapt to the different size devices and screens that people are using nowadays. So for instance, if somebody is using a normal desktop PC 22 inch monitor to look at your site and everything looks fine, the site must also load properly if they then swap over to their iPhone. Obviously the website isn't going to show exactly the same, obviously there is not enough room on an iPhone to show the website as it would be seen on a desktop PC monitor. However, the website should adapt itself so the user can easily browse your website from a smaller screen.
If you own one of these smart phones then obviously you can test your website on your own phone. However there are absolutely tons and tons of different brands and makes of mobile phone out there on the market nowadays. Obviously it's just simply not feasible for you to go out and buy every single phone on the market to test your website on. I know some people go through phone shops and test their websites. But there really should be something more practical and easy in order for you to check your website and make sure that it is working properly on smart phones.
A friend of mine is always boasting about how much he can tolerate eating hot spicy food. In all fairness, I've seen him eating some pretty hot food, far hotter than I could manage. I've told them that I am going to challenge him to eat one . He says he will do it, but now I'm thinking that maybe it's not a good idea, I don't want to be the cause of his demise. Having said that, he's such a big headed sod that as far as I'm concerned he deserves everything that will happen if he does decide to eat one of these incredibly hot chilies.
I have been a Corrie fan for the best part of 25 years now and I've always thought the storylines have been well thought out, realistic, and most importantly enjoyable. However, after watching the episode on Thursday 28 May which saw the a massive fire break out in the apartment block where Carla and Nick live, I'm afraid I am extremely disappointed with how the whole storyline developed during the programme.
To cut a long story short, Tracy Barlow thought she was going to be the new barmaid of the Rovers due to her devious plotting with Tony to buy the Rovers, notwithstanding that she had also been having an affair with him. She then finds out that Carla at the very last minute has offered to buy Liz's share, thus scuppering any hope of her getting her feet under the bar at the Rovers. So Tracey being Tracey is out for revenge. She steals the keys to Carla's flat, lets herself in when everybody is asleep, including her own daughter whom unknown to Tracey is asleep in Carla's bedroom. Her intentions soon become clear, she intends to wallop Carla over the head, however she changes her mind at the last minute. She then lights a candle so she can look at a photo album containing photos of Rob. She then puts the candle down but neglects to extinguish the flame out. So the inevitable happens, the candle starts a fire.
I am an avid fisherman and often spend the whole day sitting beside the fishing lake. In the hot weather it can be extremely uncomfortable if I'm not able to cool down. It is important that people with my particular high-level disability have a way to cool down. Unfortunately our internal thermometer has basically been completely disrupted due to the high-level spinal cord injury and therefore we do not sweat in hot weather. Of course sweating is the body's way to cool itself down. The next best thing to sweating is to actually simulate sweating, I found an excellent way to cool myself down in hot weather and that is to use a . I never gave fishing in the summer now without my trusty water spray bottle.
I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking since the late 1990s now. The program is absolutely brilliant, it gets 10/10 from me. However, what I have learnt over the years is the program is only as good as the microphone you use with it.
I must have spent a small fortune over the years on different microphones from different companies. Logitech produce some quality microphones, as do Plantronics, however I've recently bought a pair of headset microphones from a company called Sennheiser.
If you don't know me then you won't know about my little mishap back in February last year. I travelled up to Salisbury for an appointment, I decided to drive myself for a change, rather than getting hospital transport. The journey was great, to my surprise I didn't feel drowsy at all. I came back through Paignton and whilst manoeuvring a tight corner at some traffic lights a dreaded spasm decided it was going to appear just at the wrong moment. This spasm travelled into my right hand which meant I wasn't able to hold the joystick properly. My hand slipped off the joystick and I smashed straight into a road sign. It couldn't have happened at a worse time, bang on rush-hour, right on the corner of Manor Road when everybody was coming home from work. I lost count of the amount of people who had their phones out filming me, I'm surprised I haven't appeared on YouTube.
The vehicle was pretty mangled at the front, I wasn't even sure whether it was going to be salvageable or not. Anyway, after some arguments with my insurance company, they agreed to fix the vehicle, basically because of how much the hand controls were worth. It is sometimes unfair how insurance companies deal with people who have had accidents. You may have a really lovely car that is in great condition, but if it is eight or nine years old then it will have a market value, that is what your insurance company will give you. So if your car is worth £3000 and the damage cost £4000 to fix, you'll get the £3000 I'm afraid. I don't know what the market value of a Mercedes sprinter that is seven years old is, but I can't imagine it's an awful lot. However, to replace that vehicle, plus my hand controls, you're looking at the best part of £70,000.
I'm really hoping that everyone is finding my website slightly easier to navigate now I have made some changes. Basically, the main menu under the logo/heading will take you to the main categories of my website. Within each of these categories you will find information related to that particular category. I've decided not to mix all the menus together because this could be confusing to some people. So in other words, when you go to "focus on disability" you will find a side menu with articles relating only to information based on disability, whether that be computers or disabled driving. Then if you want to read about what hobbies I like the participating, you just go to the main menu "my hobbies" and you will find all the information in that one particular category.
The homepage is a work in progress at the moment and in the next two or three weeks I hope to have some more photos that will be used to make up a really nice heading.
So I hope you like the changes so far, personally, I believe that the website is far easier to get around now and you know exactly where you are and what you want to look at.
