I'm looking for people who can help me with a little bit of research. I'm trying to determine how many people develop sinus tracts when they have existing pressure sores, or if they just suddenly find out they've got a sinus tract that has come to the surface.

I had a sinus tract back in 2005 which took several months to heal. I then developed another one at the end of 2013 and have only just started getting back up again. Thankfully, the one I had this time was very small, only very narrow and 0.5 cm in length.

If like me you use the Plantronics range of headphones/microphone then you will know that the sponge earpads don't last for ever. In fact, the sponges on the headphones will start wearing out after only a few months. Once they were out, you are then left with a perfectly decent pair of headphones that are incredibly uncomfortable to wear, especially when lying in bed. I found somebody on eBay who is selling replacement foam pad cushion covers for various makes the Plantronics microphones, one of which is the DSP 400 headphones. Obviously this item may not be available for the foreseeable future, so my advice would be to buy some now, after all for £5 you get five pairs which should last two or three years easily.

Three months has gone by pretty quickly. I certainly highly recommend making sure you've got plenty of things to do whilst in bed, it has certainly stopped me from going stir crazy.

Anyway, I got up properly for the first time yesterday. I had a visit from Michelle from SuMed, the suppliers of Roho in the UK. She brought a new Roho plus some pressure mapping equipment with her. I've made some fairly radical adjustments to my wheelchair, especially around the seating. I realised that my seat was falling short in depth of what it should be. When you are sitting in your wheelchair the front of the cushion should be approximately 1 inch from the back of your means. If you have too much of a gap that your thighs are not supported properly. It cost me £300 but it seems to have made quite a big difference, it's very noticeable how much more cushion is underneath me now. When I actually look at photos of how I sat before, it was almost as if I was sitting on the edge of the cushion with my legs dangling free go to undermine.

I have been a huge fan of anything to do with sci-fi or paranormal activity, it's just a subject that fascinates me. However, if you were to ask me whether I actually believe in little green men, flying saucers, or even Bigfoot, you would probably be surprised to hear that I am extremely sceptical that any type of alien life has ever visited this world, or there are large, hairy beasts walking around the forests of North America, I just do not buy into it any more.

Let's just talk about life beyond this planet for a minute. Now don't misunderstand me, I am absolutely certain that out there in the vast expanses of space there must be life of life. Now, whether any intelligent life exists, we will probably never find out in our lifetime. Now when it comes to flying saucers or aliens abducting people from their beds late at night, I just don't believe it any more. With all the technology that we have nowadays, the up-to-date digital cameras, video cameras, cameras on people's phones, CCTV, you would have thought that if we have flying saucers visiting Earth on a regular basis, someone somewhere would have captured a really good image. But no one has ever photographed an image of a UFO that is anywhere near convincing.

For the second time in nine years I have found myself with a sinus on the backside. Thankfully it's not as bad as the one I had back in 2004 and even after two weeks of bed rest, the nurses tell me that it's looking really good, so hopefully it won't be too long before I am up and about again.

However, after the last time I spent nearly 8 months doing bed rest, I made sure that my bedroom was completely kitted out for a long stay in bed. There is nothing worse than lying in bed with nothing but the television to watch. I'm very much into the computer, I use it every single day of the year so that is obviously a very important part of my bedside setup. As you can see by the photograph below, I use a fairly large monitor, I think it's around 21 inches, anything smaller and it would be difficult to see what's going on when you are lying on your side. I use an Acer PC that I got from Currys. Because I still do a lot of computer graphics and website work, the computer carries a very good board, the bedroom PC has an Intel board with 4 GB of RAM, more than enough to deal with my everyday computer work. I couldn't use my computer without my trusty Kensington trackball mouse which is on the table next to the bed right where I can reach it comfortably. I use a pair of Plantronics headset microphone which are very comfortable. If you are using headset microphones in bed then make sure you get some with some foam earmuffs, if you don't you'll find your ears become sore very quickly.

I have just finished a revamp of wheellovedating.co.uk. I have not made massive changes, however I have moved the users module to just underneath the heading where it more visible. I created a nice new header image which I must say I am rather pleased with. I've also put a lot of navigation into the main menu along the toolbar

We have only been running for a short period of time, however we now have quite a few new members and more extraordinary, we have managed to gain a Google page rank of 4. I'm not quite sure how this happens, however I am not complaining as it can do nothing but help people find us on the Internet.

This video is not for the fainthearted. If you are at all squeamish then I suggest that you do not watch this video. However, I believe that some of the content in this video will demonstrate that you are not invincible and some of the silly stunts that kids perform these days can often lead to serious injury, or even death. Also, this video is a testament to how dangerous some of the sports we watch are.

If I ever win the lottery, the first thing I'll buy is a big house in the country with the fishing lake, the next thing will be one of these  awesome off-road  vehicles that you can wheel into using either a manual or electric wheelchair. I don't care how much it costs, I'll be getting one.

My new website, wheellovedating.co.uk has just gone live. There are a few little bits and pieces I need to finish off, and also add to the profile section of the website, but I think it's good enough to go live for the time being so I can test the water.

The website is aimed at disabled wheelchair users, although any disabled persons are quite welcome to register and create a profile for themselves. I like to encourage not only disabled people to date each other, but also able-bodied people as well. Able-bodied people are more than welcome to create a profile for themselves. In the next couple of days I will add some extra field so people can state whether they are disabled or not. However, for the time being they can put all the information in their "about me" section in their profile.

What the hell is it with just about every contestant that takes part in the daily quiz wanting to say hello to just about everybody they know in the world. It is bloody ridiculous. It's excruciating to listen to sometimes, some of them obviously have a long list of people they want to say hello to. One is this, the bloody Oscars? I've even heard people say hello to friends that they know I'm not even listening, WTF is that all about? It's about time that the producers put a stop to this ridiculous craze. If you added up the minutes that these people take up say hello to everybody, I bet you it would be nigh on the whole show at the end of the year.

Come on Ken, put your foot down and tell these idiots that if they want to say hello to all their friends, they've got a phone and a finger they can use.

The following article is based upon my own personal experience using Google AdSense. I've been using Google AdSense for about three years and would consider myself to be fairly experienced using this system. Google does not allow AdSense users to divulge exactly how much you make publicly on the Internet. However, I can tell you that my earnings now run into the low thousands each year.

Google AdSense is an advertising scheme developed by Google about 10 years ago. It gives people who own websites the chance to earn money by simply placing adverts into the pages on their website, very simple but extremely lucrative if you get things right.

Unfortunately I have developed a small sore spot on my backside which has resulted in me having to take to my bed. I thought something was building a few days ago when I started sweating down the left-hand side of my body more than I normally do. One of my carers noticed a tiny little mark that we really didn't give any concern to. Anyway, that mark has developed into a very small superficial wound. When I say small, I really mean small, probably only two or 3 mm, if that. However, anyone who has had problems like this before will tell you that even the smallest area can develop quickly into something a lot more serious.

The district nurses came in this morning and reassured me that this looks like a superficial surface wound and not anything more sinister. What I don't want to happen is to have another sinus, they are a real pain in the backside to heal and take ages. Anyway, I'm doing the sensible thing and staying in bed, it would be very foolish of me to sit up at the moment. Unfortunately just one days sitting can cause a weeks worth of damage, so you can see how these things can keep people immobilised for a long time in serious cases.

Charlcombe used to be my all-time favourite fishing venue, you really couldn't go wrong. However, I don't know what has happened to the place but the fishing has gone down the toilet. I visited there today and didn't catch a single thing, not even a decent bite. There were a couple of other guys fishing who caught a few bream and several small tench between them, but no carp whatsoever. Obviously you can't always expect to catch fish when you go fishing, sometimes you do have days when nothing goes right. Having said this, I know Charlcombe and I know what it used to fish like, I find it difficult to believe that things can be so different without some interference. In other words, I believe that a lot of the carp have been taken out and put in the ponds at Newton Abbot. Two or three years ago Island Pond suffered a devastating algae bloom which killed nearly every fish in the pond, including some very large carp. When spring ponds were closed, the carp that were owned by the Newton Abbot Fishing Association were taken out and put in Island. I'm beginning to suspect that the same thing has happened to Charlcombe pond but I don't have any proof. You would think that on a lovely warm day in the summer, there would be some sign of carp, whether that be tail patterns when ground baiting, or fish taking bread from the surface, absolutely nothing whatsoever.

I will probably give it one more go in a couple of weeks time to see if it was just a one-off, but if the same thing happens again I see absolutely no point in wasting a whole day when you're not going to catch anything.

Me and my pal Charles decided to take a trip down to Goodrington on Wednesday to do a little bit of fishing from the promenade. Since it was lunchtime I suggested that we nip down and get a portion of chips between us, after all I am a fat b and shouldn't be eating them anyway. We went to one of the kiosks that open just for the summer and made our order. 15 min later the chips have still not arrived so we cancelled the order and walked about 50 yards to the little takeaway hut just in front of the Inn on the Quay. I could hear music blaring out before I even got to the takeaway hut. To my amazement the music was coming from a pair of speakers that were sitting on the counter. Now this wasn't gentle relaxing music to make you feel good, this was pop music with the volume turned up to number 10 to number 10 on the volume knob. Now I promise you I am not joking but both Charles and myself could hardly hear each other over this racket. I don't know about the guy serving, even though he was very talented and could distinguish the customers voices under the music, or he was very good at lipreading. I just cannot understand why they had the music turned up so loud, I don't think I've been anywhere where I've come across a situation like this. So take this as a warning, you may need to take your earplugs if you are going for some food at The Inn on the Quay.

And while I am on my soapbox having a moan, I thought I would mention the promenade itself at Goodrington. Why the bloody hell is access from the beach to the promenade still blocked off to the general public? By all accounts it's been like a thing being this for weeks now, it's nearly summer and the promenade is only accessible from the rock walk. I find this totally unacceptable at this time of the year, they should have carried out this work weeks ago. It just so happens that you can still gain access in a wheelchair, however you have to go all the way around the back of the houses and make your way to the top of the rock walk. There are several paths leading down to the promenade so you may think you are in a maze trying to find the entrance to the promenade.

A few years after my accident, I started developing dry, flaky skin on my face, especially around the nose area.  The doctor couldn't diagnose what was causing the problem, however, he gave me a steroid cream to use.  This didn't make any difference and the problem persisted.  After a year or two it got considerably better and I wasn't experiencing the same amount of sore reddish skin around my nose.  Having said this, I can't remember a time when I have not suffered from dry, flaky skin on my face.  Sometimes the problem is severe, other times it's hardly noticeable, but it's always been there over the years.  A family friend recommended using "Bio Oil" as they had successfully used it themselves for various skin conditions.  Bio oil is used in many cases to treat stretchmarks, I believe pregnant women use it after giving birth.  However, it can be used for dry and sore skin as well.  Now I don't want to tempt fate as I've been here before with various ointments and creams, however since I been using this oil I haven't got one single piece of loose, flaky skin on my face at all.  In fact I have been able to wear dark clothing without having to constantly brush  loose skin off the front of my shirt.  It is quite remarkable how quickly this oil has worked, it can't possibly be a coincidence, it really has nipped it in the bud and for the first time in as long as I can remember I have really good skin without any dryness or flakiness whatsoever.  Unfortunately Bio Oil is quite expensive, a small bottle will set you back around the £10 mark.  Having said this, we managed to find a bottle halfprice at our local chemist so shopping around, or even looking on the Internet will probably benefit you.

I just did a quick search on Google and came up with quite a few results for Bio Oil.

I saw a very sad story on the news today regarding a chap in his fifties who broke his neck in the early nineties.  I don't know what level he is, I would suspect probably about a C4 neck injury.  Even though the news stated he had no movement below his neck, he was able to control an electric wheelchair using joystick by himself, however, his movement was obviously more impaired than myself.  Sadly, he has decided that he has had enough of life and wants doctors to help him take his own life.  Of course we all know that the law does not permit doctors in this country to assist people in suicide.  Can now I'm not going to get into the ins and outs of why I think he is making the wrong decision, I don't know that I and I wouldn't dream of trying to get into his head and have them out what he is thinking.  Everybody is different, everybody has got their own opinion and obviously he is absolutely determined that this is what he wants.

From a personal point of view, I cannot even contemplate taking my own life, not whilst I am in relatively good health anyway.  I couldn't say how I would feel if I were to develop an illness that made my condition much, much worse, it may be the case that I would think enough is enough.  However, at the moment my life is pretty good, without wanting to tempt fate, my health is reasonably good and I enjoy each day.
